Nisa Kobir Ahmed | Burma

Nisa is a member of the Rohingya ethnic minority in Burma. Forced to leave her home country as a result of the persecution of the Rohingya, she and her family fled to Malaysia, where they lived for 5 years. Nisa and her family were resettled to Greeley, Colorado in 2015. Nisa, her husband, and four children continue to call Northern Colorado home. In 2020, Nisa became a U.S. Citizen, the first time she has been recognized as a citizen in any country. Equipped with new U.S. passports, she and her family hope to travel to visit Burma someday.
