Yusif Sardarzade

Yusif is the new Khan (monarch) of the Talysh ethnic group, which is indigenous to the region divided between Azerbaijan and Iran, which covers the South Caucasus and the southwestern shore of the Caspian Sea.  Yusif was forced to flee Azerbaijan to the United States in 2018.  He is the founder of the House of the Talysh Khanate (Monarchy), which aims to study the history of the Talysh and the peaceful struggle for the preservation of Talysh cultural and traditional values in Azerbaijan.  He previously worked for the International Rescue Committee in Denver and now works at Denver Public Schools.  His goal is to see the freedom of the Talysh Khanate (Monarchy) in the future.
